    I made it!

Excellent News, Heather Anne. Stories like yours helped me when I was in the waiting room. I feared the breathing tube story of yours. Fortunately, it was out by the time I was fully conscious. My least favorite thing was the 4 am Heparin shots in my stomach. Once, I left the hospital I required...

    which valve???????

I had the same fears that you have about being on blood thinners and the incessant ......tick...tick ...tick. I have had no problems being on Coumadin and I am only occasionally aware of any noise from my ON-X valve, usually late at night just before falling asleep. It is not unpleasant nor does...

    Increasing the ejection fraction

My surgery was on a completely shot bicuspid aortic valve. Suffering both regurgitation and stenosis. Your surgery was on the Mitral valve. So, I guess we are comparing apples and oranges.

Ascending aortic aneurysm and Bicuspid Aortic Valve--Please talk to me! (New to this)

My aortic aneurysm when my BAV was first discovered was 4.9cm (OCT 2012). It was made very clear to me at that time when the valve was replaced that the aortic would need to be repaired. 5.0 is the ultimate trigger for surgery.

One more test before AVR - haven't been on in awhile wanted to share what's next

Only occasionally do I hear it. Usually late at night in bed. It is very subtle, not unpleasant. Have you picked a valve yet? Coumadin has not been an issue. I was driving after 4 weeks. Back to work in 10 weeks.

Need some advice please - thoughts on the Plavix/ Aspirin clinical trial?

Justin: Good choice on the ON-X valve. I just passed the 4 month post-op point. As part of my anticoagulation therapy I take an 325mg asprin every morning. This came at my surgeon's instruction. My cardio loves the ON-X valve so much he feels safe establishing my INR at 2.0 to 2.5. Initially it...
