I have the ON-X valve as well ..now 4 years post-op. I had the same symptoms and feelings post-op. Now only occasionally do I hear or feel the valve as something different in my anatomy.
My awareness of the difference in my heart diminished after several months. Hang in there!
I have an ON-X valve and could not be happier with my choice. Coumadin has not been a problem. self test every two weeks INR range 1.8 to 2.2. Everyone 's situation is different and it is a very personal choice there is no right or wrong choice. You must way the plus and minus's of each.
I have been eating KIwi fruit more fruits, vegetables and salads. So far I have lost 5 pounds. My Coumadin dosage was 5 MG per day to stay in my INR Range of 1.8-2.2.
Twice a week now I take 7.5 mg of Coumadin to maintain my proper INR Range.
