@NorthWoods that's great to hear. You will get back to normal in no time! How long was Intensive care and hospital stay? Are you use to the 'clicking' of the valve?

    Heart Valve Re-Operations

Is there much data based on the number of reoperations and the risk it carries each time? My thoughts would be as a congenital heart disease vrs cardiac event later in life.. I spoke with a cardiologist the other day (she specialised with congential heart disease)and she made the statement that...

My Experience with the Ross Procedure

@Tteale Thanks for sharing your story. I asked about a Ross for my case. The cardiologist and surgeon said no - i would be too high of a risk as i have had 3 OHS (plus one on the side) and 1 more on the way - going mechanical now.

I appreciate the time you took to write and detail your experience. When you had were due for your surgery, did you have any other options? Did you have to wait long from when you spoke to your surgeon? I do feel alot more at ease now after finding this forum and hearing the peoples stories.

I just booked in my operation for the AVR with my Surgeon. As I am on public patient I will have to go on the short wait list. How long do you usually wait? The surgeon said he uses the carbomedics valve. Read a few articles and it looks rather similar to St judes valve with similar...

Thank you for normalizing the feelings. Yes, 100% went through these emotions. And the googling* does not help at all really. Love the analogy.

haha i should of put in a little more detail in that statement. I thought about my question in my head but didn't put it into the words well. I was talking about post OP and having to be on pain relief to manage the short term pain. Does this typically interfere with INR? and would they continue...

Thank you for the encouraging story. I have to admit when i first was told about my valve failing i was so misunderstood. I thought it was a death sentence after 10 to 15 years. How wrong i was. I was not a stranger to cardiac issues but i thought my subaortic membrane had grown back. Which...

Thats very encouraging to see you are able to travel. Also the explaining of self monitoring in your blog was great. I do enjoy a excel spread sheet ahah. I am a stock trader in my spare time, so charts are like gold to me. I will look into this once i have a date for surgery. The at home kit...
