    73 And Scared

70 years old, could just be a vital deception/ perception as we approach the milestone. There certainly is a difference between my present sense being at near 70 and the persistent image of a cane in hand 70 year old man stamped into my mind at some point in my youth.when did holding a cane...

    73 And Scared

I met with the cardio here at the rehab and I leave next Wednesday . I asked him what my restrictions were and he said none with the exception of limited stress on the sternum for another two months.I will confirm that "no restrictions" with my other cardio.. i do notice differences in my heart...

Hi paul Yes I am very lucky and very grateful to have this . I am in France and it’s part of their health care system. But I believe there is an economic basis to it too: they want you fixed right the first time and not be a returning drain on the system. In regards to the exercise I could have...

    Chest/sternal pain

The way I feel at two weeks I very much agree with you !!! Did you watch the video? thanks Chuck, I did not mean to suggest any one follow this video, I was surprised at the range of time for healing that has been thrown into the arena . I am in a rehab place now working on reanimation as they...

    Good afternoon

Hi Toni I am just entering my third week post surgery. I am 68 in June. I had my aortic valve replaced and I have the ten inch scar too . Honestly the first week was horrible, I ate very little and lost about 20 pounds. I also have D2. I can’t say I felt great at the end of week two , which was...

    Eight years for second valve

Thanks, very interesting. There is a Covid theory out there that is suggesting older people are dying from it because there immune system goes into over drive resulting in death. All very interesting.

Heart rate when exercising post AVR

Resting hr at 42, ! That’s wild. I wonder if that has to do with the size of your left ventricle? But then your hr would be down in general? I will have to find an English speaking cardiologist

Heart rate when exercising post AVR

I thought my new bovine av , which is about three times as large as the calcified one it replaced, would at a minimum, allow the same good performance I had up to replacement . It appears they gave me a one time med to calm the fluctuations of BP 100 to the 150s and I have since stayed between...

New here - BAV replacement scheduled for 2/9/22

Thanks! I am in the rehab place now . Will be here for three weeks.BP is high with the new larger valve /mr muscle left ventricle combination . In my imagination I thought this combo would create a heart with a long pump stroke and low bpm under stress. But not so. BB are still a nice average...

New here - BAV replacement scheduled for 2/9/22

That sounds right . The thing is to achieve a level that you can function at. I would have preferred to be stoned and painless for the first two days. Food should have been liquid based with the extra nutrients you need rather than solid food that hurts to swallow. Today was a great day , no...
