Find one test method and stay with it? Pshaw

I just started home testing with Coagu Vantus System using Coagu check XS strips. My results are 3.0. My target range for mechanical heart valve for mitral valve is 2.5-3.5. So what is a value of 3.0 then? That I assumed was ideal. Isn't it?

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

Thank you everyone for your comments. I asked my cardiologist and he told me not to take more than 1500 total in one day and less is better he added. Also told me to go to weekly testing while taking Tylenol. I’m better today. Thank you again. So great to have this group.

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

I pulled a muscle and need something for pain. I understand we can only take Tylenol. Does it change INR a lot? Thank you

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

That is very re-assuring. I found that I could not apply the blood from the side as on the training video but the Roche patient support told me to apply directly to the middle. That has been the way I have been successful. It is so nice to know we are not alone. Thank you.

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

Hi David, I am beginning to get the hang of it. I tested last week (my second time by myself) and didn't report because I was in range and my doctor only wants tests at least 2 weeks apart. I had done it the week before and reported it. I was in range both times. So tomorrow I will test and...

    Masks guidance

I would love to buy 4? Are they washable? I can mail a check because I don’t use banking apps.

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

I like that. I would like to test weekly. But report every 2 weeks. Do you also use Roche Coaguchek and do you find it easy to get strips?I think they said they would automatically send some every 9 tests reported. i have 2 boxes with 6 strips in each and they are the same lot , same...

Does this plan sound good. I have some extra strips I received for practice.

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

I think I’ll test again in one week. If I’m in range I just won’t report it to Roche who then reports to my doctor. If I’m out of range then of course I would report. My doctor makes me feel like I’m overreacting. I have been going to that office since I was 19 years old! My first open heart...

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

Hi Caro My doctor’s office only wants me to test every other week. So only every 2 weeks. Is that unusual? Even when I was going to his office for the test he wanted me to wait at least 2 weeks. He says I’m stable enough but I have had some high results. Once in January 21 this year 4.9 and...

    Protimenow Update

I wish you a fast recovery too. How scary. Stay well. I once was doing a prep for colonoscopy and my heart rate went way down. My cardiologist said I was experiencing bygeminal rhythms (don’t know spelling) from the dehydration. I have the mechanical heart valve and a pacemaker but my pulse was...

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

Hi Caro I tested by myself for the first time today. First time I didn’t have enough blood. Second time I did. I spoke w patient help and they are sending me a new Softclix. It isn’t working well we think. I applied blood to clear center of the clear window like nurse told me to try. Was glad it...

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

I haven’t tried again. Since I tested Friday I am waiting a week to try again. Do you practice at home and not report? Or do you wait to when it’s time again?

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

Thank you. I spoke to patient services help and they told me to touch blood to clear center of the clear window and hold until i hear a beep or see the blue circle, being careful not to touch with finger but just with blood. I will also try that next time.

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

Good morning everyone. I went yesterday and the nurse in my cardiologist’s office did my inr and showed me what I needed to do. I couldn’t get the blood on the strip correctly. I would stick myself on the side but each time I approached the strip, she said I was going under. Can I just plop the...

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

Hi! It’s great to learn that you can call or use a web-cite. Is the reporting over the phone quick? Do you get a person on the line? What about turn around time for instructions? Do you report if you are in range? Or only if you are out of range? Can’t wait to get started and not have to drive...
