Switched from name brand Coumadin to Jantoven 7 days ago and now have nausea

Hi everyone, I started Jantoven and the first week INR was great. 3.2 No side effects. Now testing weekly as instructed by my doctor. The following week I was 2.5 so I tested the next day to see if I had made a mistake and it was 2.3. I waited another week and it was 2.6. After that...

Mitral valve first replaced 34yrs ago, looking for help

Hi Louisiana. I am 70 years old. I was born with a birth defect and had open heart surgery at age 7 in 1957 to repair a malformed mitral valve and a atrial septal defect. It was pioneer surgery. As a by product of this surgery I went into complete heart block. Pacemakers weren’t available then...

Coag-Sense versus CoaguChek xs and labs

There was a FDA alert of test strips that were not supposed to sell in USA. Here is a long explanation. Look for the company selling them. Hopefully it doesn’t apply to anybody here. It may be old news. Not the first alert either. https://www.drugs.com/fda-alerts/2311-2631.html

    Home testing questions

I have two questions that I wonder if someone here knows the answer. First I use the Vantus and the service from Roche which was now bought by BioTel Heart, effective June 23, 2020. So far nothing has changed. I was told by letter. Does the Vantus machine calibrate automatically? In other words...

    Home testing questions

Interesting. I have the St Judes mitral since 2001. Also permanent atrial fibrillations which I don’t feel because I have a complete heart block and thus I also have a pacemaker since 1974. Long road since my first surgery in 1957. That was pioneer surgery and caused me the complete heart block.

    Home testing questions

Well I tested on my Vantus yesterday. I have a mechanical heart valve so my range is 2.5 to3.5. It read 2.7 and I did it twice with the same result. I am in range so no changes. However since everyone has been noticing and me as well that the Vantus coagucheck XS can register higher than the...

    Home testing questions

Hi Charlottekaye Since Covid I began self testing this past April instead of going to my doctor’s office. This group here helped me get started. I contacted Roche patient services and they eventually delivered the machine and strips. My insurance (Medicare and Cigna) has been covering all costs...

Coag-Sense versus CoaguChek xs and labs

I asked cardiologist but he told me he wanted me to try Jantoven. He says it’s more like my Coumadin. I just picked up my first prescription. I still have about 3 weeks of Coumadin left... I also take a baby aspirin.

Home monitoring for coumadin. I have a mechanical heart valve

Hi **** My cardiologist had asked me how did my machine standardize before doing a test like the labs do. I told him that I thought it was done automatically with the Vantus I use and the strips Roche sends ne. That’s correct? Hope so.

Coag-Sense versus CoaguChek xs and labs

I am always anxious the day I test. I can't help it. I have to switch to Jantoven in a month or so. I will be out of Coumadin. Doctor already gave me prescription for Jantoven. I am super anxious about the change. This blog helps me manage it. Thank you to all who help. He did say he wants me to...

Coag-Sense versus CoaguChek xs and labs

Hello to everyone. After postponing twice I finally had my echo today. No changes so good. We discussed the Lab draw vs my Vantus machine. He said the difference of 2.9 to 3.3 was ok. I asked if I should do a Lab draw every year. He said once a year is fine. I have the Vantus. He said I should...

Coag-Sense versus CoaguChek xs and labs

I did the same thing last week and they were pretty close too. Lab was 2.9 and XS Roche was 3.3. I think it means the lab is slightly less.
