    Mind-Body Connection?

Just my two cents. I tried a trial of Calm and it didn't appeal to me. There are so many great meditation apps so shop around. I currently use Insight Timer and 10% Happier on a daily basis. We're fortunate to have so many choices, aren't we?

Tissue Valvers. How Old is Yours?

This must explain your choice of another tissue valve. Are advancements such that they are now able to enlarge things where they weren't able to do that previously? Having not yet gone through this I wonder what my anatomy will 'decide' for me.

    Mind-Body Connection?

I'm with you. I gave yoga a try probably 5-10 years ago. I eventually settled into specifically Yin Yoga. Over time I realized that savasana was meditation, albeit a 5 minute one. Thus, yoga eventually led me into meditation. When I got my bicuspid diagnosis out of the blue (I'm still in the...

    My number was finally called!

As someone in the Waiting Room, your attitude is refreshing. Now for the age-old question, tissue or mechanical?

    Cyborg in training

By the way, my cardiologist recommended I get a Kardia. They're about $100 on Amazon and they allow you to give yourself an EKG. You can email the results to your doctor. Pretty cool stuff...

    Cyborg in training

Johnmarkos I'm in Austin and grateful I'm not near that Zuckerberg hospital -Sheesh! Gotta love our ridiculous healthcare system here in the U.S. What a reassuring video! Thank you for sharing it! It states that AFib after valve surgery is most always temporary, with 94% of patients not having...

Interesting information. What are you using to test your heart rate? I have a Fitbit and wonder if they'd consider that to be legit.

So being in AFib doesn't mean a visit to the ER?

Johnmarkos, thank you for sharing your journey. It's been really helpful and you sound like you're doing quite well in general. Hopefully your afib has now passed. As someone who has yet to go through surgery I have a question about post-op afib as it seems to be common. How do you know when to...

Probability of either a-fib or permanent memory issues post-surgery

Thanks for clarifying your experience. So that means you were technically also braindead (per previous post) and came out with recoverable brain issues as well, correct?

Probability of either a-fib or permanent memory issues post-surgery

Jill, as this thread continues, I've gone back and reread some entries, including yours. Based on the newer information about valve replacement + aneurysm repair as it relates to brain issues, I shall take your story as very positive. The first surgery yielded no memory issues. Thank you for...

Probability of either a-fib or permanent memory issues post-surgery

Thanks for your input. I guess the earlier comments about the surgical process needed to repair my aneurysm as it relates to my brain kind of threw me for a loop. Now I wonder if others who've had both, valve replacement and aneurysm repair might chime in re memory or cognitive issues post...
