Just throwing this out there…. I had pretty consistent PVCs. Last time for 24 hours. Dr in ER suggested cutting out or lessening caffeine. I did and it’s MUCH better.

Going back to America when my aortic stenosis becomes severe or stay in Asia? What sayeth my valve peeps ?)

New warrior....... everyone here has tried to be supportive so I see no reason for you to be snippy and ungracious. It does seem that your major issue is your depression. Get that under control so you can reread everyone’s advice and support and make the best decision for yourself.

    Imminent AVR - 40 y.o. female - advice please

    1. And this is only my opinion..... they will get your warfarin level to acceptable level before you leave, but you will want a doctor to help initially to keep it in range. I would suggest staying with a doctor, or anticoagulant clinic for a couple months so YOU see how it is adjusted. It can...

    Had AVR performed 2/25/21

IMO...your dosage should be adjusted based on your normal eating habits, not the other way around. yet, it’s all about balance.

    Fasting and Warfarin

I have experience with fasting and warfarin...and it’s NOT good. The fasting wasn’t planned. I came down with a bad case of food poisoning. I couldn’t eat or drink. I ended up with an internal bleed because my warfarin level was off the charts high. The second time this happened was due to...

    Most Important Things to Bring

Well darn, standing joke with my family....” make sure Mom has her lipstick” As for other things...no one sleeps well after surgery in a hospital. by the time I could sleep, it was time to go home. Personally, ear plugs would not have worked for me because I hear my valve echo too much. My...

    Whats the point.....................

I’m glad you are getting some help, because your fears are unfounded, as everyone here would attest to. Just an FYI...my first surgery was for an Ascending Aortic Aneurysm. I was fortunate it was caught in time because most people DIE when they have those.(John Ritter for example) That would be...

I've crossed the line into severe and need to make a decision

I would think there would stress waiting”for the ax to fall” if it were me, I’d opt for sooner rather than wait to be symptomatic. at that point, it becomes a degree of emergency.

Migraine aura anyone? Or does the cheese stand alone?

Just to add one more person.... i started with the optical migraines in my late 20’s. At that time, birth control pills was deemed the culprit. I went off the pills and they DID improve, but didn’t completely go away. Throughout the years I chalked it up to eye strain. Ordered “computer glasses”...

    Home testing questions

I totally agree with those who promote self testing!! i bought my meter on EBay for around $500. That’s about what I was paying a year to be tested at the doctor’s office. Fortunately my doctor was all for it and I let them do the actual monitoring if needed. And I just converse with them via...

    Warfarin bruising

Anytime I do something that I know will make a bruise, I ice it right away. Seems to help, but I also know that any bruise I get lasts a long time!

    New but Lurking for Months!

I, too, have anemia caused by my heart valve. Until diagnosed, I was needing transfusions every 6-10 months. I now take folic acid, plus iron and vitamin C. So far, that has helped. I was recently diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis...go figure! Add some more pills to the lot!!! It makes me...

    Anxiety about upcoming surgery.

I have had 2 OHS, each a year apart And both with full sternotomies. . The first was for an aneurysm repair. The second gave me my St Jude valve. My time in the hospital was minimal each time and more uncomfortable than painful. I would say the same for recuperation. Like many noted, I came off...
