NIH Reports TAVI/TAVR as more routine, open to moderate risk patients, and then some

Bizinsider - do a little research on Dr. Doolahb at UTSW in Texas. I had true minimally invasive AVR with him and I was very pleased. If you want his nurses email let me know. I don't want to just post it. They are great about letting you email your echo report etc and giving you an idea of...

Aortic valve repair or replacement, early 2020

My heart murmur came and went according to the different docs. Some heard it and some did not. Until it got really loud. My CTA was done during my day before surgery pre-op. They didn't require my heart rate to be that low (probably was 60's) as that was my usual. They did have to hydrate me...

I ran 5 miles one week after AVR

    LOL! It was minimally invasive.

Getting ready for an cardiac angiogram.

I had mine 4 days prior to my surgery. Through the wrist at my request. I was mostly sedated through it all and it was easy. My surgeon wanted it so he could fix anything needed at the same time as my valve replacement. Luckily it was clear.

OUT OF BREATH AFTER 1 min Jogging after AVR

I had my minimally invasive AVR last February (age 57 - been working out 30+ years). It has taken this long for the lung that had to be deflated during surgery to feel like I can fully inhale again. That said, I have only been doing 30 min on level 5 on the eliptical daily and walking at a brisk...

    Nervious about husband's surgery

56 and had it last Feb. as that is when I found out and it was shot. It is scary, but was absolutely doable and your husband is young and healthy. Just got to get it done and recovery over with and all is good. I went Bovine.

    High resting heart rate

I had AVR in Feb for unknown critical aortic stenosis (bicuspid valve) - only found because I was going to have back surgery and they wanted clearance because of a murmur I had always had. Pre replacement my resting HR was 60's (exerciser) after it was always 90's - 100's. Over seven months it...

Daily Aspirin Post Aortic Valve Replacement

I only had to take the aspirin for 3 months after my AVR. Is there some reason they feel you need it?

Glad to hear all is going so well.

TAVR/TAVI: Recall of SAPIEN 3 Ultra Delivery System Due to Burst Balloons During Surgery

If you can email me I can give you the email for his nurse and she will be happy to see if you are a candidate. Is there a way to do that privately? They looked at my echo via email when I started my journey...

TAVR/TAVI: Recall of SAPIEN 3 Ultra Delivery System Due to Burst Balloons During Surgery

The success rate is great. He is in the top 3% of CV surgeons in the US. I just want people to know that this is an option. I am not trying to "sell" anything. LOL. It is less risky.

TAVR/TAVI: Recall of SAPIEN 3 Ultra Delivery System Due to Burst Balloons During Surgery

Much less invasive. You are on bypass, but a very short time and through the groin incision which is also small. I actually went back to work 8 days post op. Not that it was easy, but so much easier than the traditional procedures. Dr. Doolahb has an incredible success rate and I guess I just...

TAVR/TAVI: Recall of SAPIEN 3 Ultra Delivery System Due to Burst Balloons During Surgery

Wrong on all counts on the "minimally invasive" procedure. No mini-sternotomy. Go to UTSW - Dr. Doolahb and you will find the info. He said he can do this procedure for almost anybody...

TAVR/TAVI: Recall of SAPIEN 3 Ultra Delivery System Due to Burst Balloons During Surgery

I have only had my bovine since February, but it is fine and I am really glad. I am 56. I had minimally invasive surgery so no cracking the breast bone. I just do not understand why this is not more readily available to people.

    Should I Have a Stent?

You absolutely can replace the valve without cracking the chest or TAVR. I just had it in February. There just are not a lot of surgeons skilled at it so word is not getting out. They do the bypass through the groin. I have a 2 inch incision on my right upper chest.
