    The Future of Valve Choice?

I would focus on living and enjoying life, but in the meantime I would eat high vegetable, fruit, whole grain diet with a little fish and nuts thrown in. Do not smoke of course but definitely exercise and avoid alchohol and junk food. That should reduce inflammation which is one of the biggest...

No teeth cleaning or elective dental procedures for a year after surgery??

Hi ****, if you had read my post above you would know that i did ask my surgeon and my cardiologist and their answers were not the same which is one reason I am motivated to talk about this issue-so much disagreement.

No teeth cleaning or elective dental procedures for a year after surgery??

Well first of all I certainly never suggested anyone lied. I certainly agree that the posters were simply following what their docs told th em. If it came across that way I apologize c ertainly not intended. As for citations I certainly agree with you, but I assumed AHA Gidelines was citation...

No teeth cleaning or elective dental procedures for a year after surgery??

First of all the mis-information is right here in this thread. If doctors are recommending the 6 month wait it is NOT based on AHA guidelines. If someone had a serious dental problem they might not give it attention based on the information in this thread. As for myself I did ask both my...

    Second Opinion

Yes your right that while exercising your heart beats faster than when sedentary so it would seem to make a tissue valve wear out sooner. But consider two people with tissue valves one is sedentary and the other exercises a reasonable amount. The liklihood of the exerciser having a lower resting...

No teeth cleaning or elective dental procedures for a year after surgery??

So many people on this forum claim a 6 month wait for dental work after heart valve surgery. The AHA guidelines NEVER Say this. They only say pre med 2 gms amoxicillin. So much misinformation on this site.

    Second Opinion

My surgeon told me that With the improvements in transcatheter implants the tissue valve not a totally bad choice. He speculated that they will continue to improve that option where it will be a first choice option, but that is speculation. At 64 years of age for my recent operation in February...

Has anyone had scaling and root planing with metrodonizale??

I have to have scaling and root planing next week. Peridontist is giving me 2000 mg amoxi 1 hour prior and then a weeks worth of metronidazole. Has anyone had this antibiotic after dental work? Peridontist says metrodonizale kills the mouth bacteria and helps with the peridontal disease.

Dental work after surgery. Totally confused and then WOW!

I did ask my surgeon and he said 3 months. I just had two teeth extracted and of course I did a pre-med. however The AHA position is clear in that there is NO WAIT TIME REQUIRED, but it seems confusion reigns on this issue. My cardio said no wait time and my surgeon said 3 months. So I played it...

    Just saying hi, I'm new

Does this make any sense to you?

Pellicle thanks so much! That kind of makes sense, but I must admit I am still a bit confused about this because if there is an injury (tooth extraction etc.) that injury continues until healing takes place which could be weeks. Or as I said someone brushes or flosses and there is a lot of...

Does this make any sense to you?

Great forum. I am new so maybe I am just CRAZY! But please could somene EXPLAIN This? I had two teeth removed and a lot of bleeding which has been on and off for several days. I Took 2gms amoxicillin before the procedure, but what I do not understand is that a single dose of amoxicillin wears...

Tissue Valvers. How Old is Yours?

Hi John, I just had aortic replacement 3months ago. Not as bad as I expected. Almost did not want to leave the hospital. The nurses were incredible in the ICU. I am assuming you checked out the hospital and the surgeon. That is the most important thing you can do IMO. U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORTS...
