Weight lifting with valve and aneurysm replacement

Hi Wiles " But this is not a place for clinical advice. " ; For sure , but the frustrating thing is we are getting widely varying advice from each cardiologist we consult. But you mentioned a stress test. A post-op stress test sounds like a great idea! In rehab, we were wired up each day for...

Returning to exercise after valve surgery

Finally got the full 28K done with out a flat. 3 minutes longer than my pre op time. Also saw the cardiologist who assisted my surgeon during my op; The surprise was I did not have a bicuspid but rather a really mangled tricuspid. The first cardio that I went to 10 years ago thought I had a...

Well, this week, week 9, I started my biking and did the 28k two times with one hitch; both times near the 14k mark, I got flat tires ; first day was the front tire, the second day the back . ...... the return home with flat tires was considerably more of a challenge than with inflated tires and...

Weight lifting with valve and aneurysm replacement

When I was playing lots of tennis I got an electro stimulator with TENS to reduce pain then started using it on my shoulders with a higher current to get tone. Maybe a combination would work for you with less stress on your heart etc?

    High resting heart rate

I too was wondering if the higher BPM was permanent after AVR. I am about 12 BPM higher. I also watched some youtube stuff like this, that pellicle was talking about above. There used to be a gadget around that you clipped onto your finger. It beeped with each heartbeat and the exercise was...

    Unusually LOUD heartbeat

I had loud thumping early on accompanied by a wide range of BPM. It was louder when it was pumping at a lower BPM; When I was at the computer,it would drop to 32 and it was really loud there. Now, at week 8 it has settled down and my average resting heart rate, when I am awake is 63. When I am...

Returning to exercise after valve surgery

Good thread! I was a bit like chuck, not boxing, but pre-op ,all-out hill hiking and cross country biking. My times and performance were always getting better and I was beginning to think the Cardio was wrong. My AV size was 68 (?) up from the 30s when they first started checking. And, pre-op...
