    Staying the Course -- 02-14-2017

30 minutes on the elliptical is a good workout. And if you like racketball, you will like pickleball. IMHO

Thanks SB for providing motivation to stay the course. I hurt my back shoveling snow a few days ago. That and icy roads cut down on my trips to workout. The good news is, either my wife-away diet of popcorn, cereal and scotch or something else has worked, for I have lost two pounds in the past...

HB, pleased you have work again. Work = money = better-life-than-poor. Now that I'm mostly retired, I'm learning to live 1/4 of what I use to make. I'm also asking myself what did I do with all that money when I worked full time?

I'm still here are giving lots of thought about controlling my weight. The bad news is that thinking about it does little for it. Getting to the gym has been somewhat problematic with snow, cold and other home activities. So, this week it's up two pounds with bad excuses. My wife is gone and...

Mycobacterium Chimaera Infection from Heater Cooler Units UK

Thanks for posting this. I had not picked up on the earlier post back in November of last year. There is always something... Hopefully they took these out of service before my surgery last July.

    2 years on February 7th

Milestones about living beyond our heart issues and bad valves are great. Isn't modern medicine great? Congratulations Cldlhd.

    The Wall

I agree with Honnybunny. Not the forum to discuss politics. I like the sense of humor of some who like to banter about it, but rather this forum stay about heart valve issues.

    Staying the Course -- 01-23-2017

Hi SB and others, Last weekend we had an unusual 60 degree day here in Western PA for January and I was invited to join a friend on a small hike. We hiked up a trail in the 'hills' of a national forest and I was surprised as to how out of breath I got. We hiked almost five miles. I was OK on...

    Propranolol

I am also on a beta blocker twice a day and miss a dose about once in a week. When I do, my heart rate does go up slightly before the next dose, for the half lift is only a few hours, but I would not be too concern about it, either take it a few hours late, or wait for the next dose.

Yes, I am the new guy

When I showed my wife Pellicie's picture her response was: "What's that, a heart operation gone bad?"

Steve, I can sign up for: "Getting old(er) is inevitable. Growing up is not!". My wife often tells me to "grow up". My reply is: "Nope, never!"

    Staying the Course -- 01-09-2017

Hi STC folks, Sounds like many of us are getting back into the routine of trying to be more healthy. Last weekend, when our area saw temperatures in the single digits, my wife and I flew to Ft. Lauderdale to have dinner with her daughter. It felt like I was some kind of jet-setter flying to...

Tissue valve or Mechanical Valve for your adults

Two Aussies and a Canadian walk into a health care facility that specializes in heart valve replacement and start talking about American politics. An American that is dealing with a real heart valve issue walls out. I'm as passionate as many about what is happening in American politics, but...

Tissue valve or Mechanical Valve for your adults

Good for you ****! I love popcorn and like your attitude. I have traded microwave popcorn for natural popped to be more healthy. That way I can have my scotch and butter with my popcorn. I call this dyslexic logic. The folks on the "staying the course" thread will like this. On on a more...

Tissue valve or Mechanical Valve for your adults

After reading this study, I conclude two points: 1. Don't get a valve implanted that is no longer on the market, for they sucked.and don't get one that was developed 20 years age, for today's technology is better. 2. Get on living your life because we are all going to die - heart valve...

    Staying the Course -- 01-02-2017

Hope everyone has a glood 2017. I fell off the "healthy-eating" wagon over the holidays and now I carry around an extra 5 pounds as a reminder of my weak will power. ☹️ I now have a goal to spend enough time on the treadmill to listen to the full soundtrack of the musical 'Hamilton' "I am...

    Staying the Course -- 12-19-2016

Hi everyone, ''Tis a tough time of year to keep the weight off. Cookies, sugar canes, candy, breads and that is just breakfast! I found the hardest part of working out is making the decision to go do it. It is remarkable how many excuses one can come up with: there is that email I have to...

Newbie - I meet with my surgeon next week

Welcome to the forum Funzel. First take a deep breath and relax. You came to a good place to get support and learn. Open Heart Surgery is scary at first, but as you learn more and become educated, you will find it is normally very safe and effective. I also went through the same concerns as...
