    Why I am here

Well said, LL. We do have a tendency to focus on what is said and ignore what is not said. Pellicle, I like your comment: “There are many things I would not have found out about by staying in my shell.” The shell is comfortable, but knowledge is most always outside of it.

    Staying the Course -- 10/01/2019

Since I recently turned 76, I thought I would provide a brief update. Basically, I feel better today than I have in 10 years. You may recall that I had surgery in 2016 to replace my stenosis Aortic valve with a tissue valve made by St. Jude, model TFGT-25A. The surgeon also did one bypass...

Thank you, Duffy. That is observant and kind of you.

Best of healing times, Superbob. Nice to see you back.

    Staying the Course -- 08/26/2019

#Superbob, I don't know much about Type 2 diabetic blood sugar numbers, but I do know I want you to be well. I'm pleased you are taking care of yourself. The best to you and your DW.

    52 years on ONE valve

@dick0236, you are an inspiration for many of us. Happy Aniversary.

So far, so good – Part Three

@Seaton, it is nice to hear you doing well. The road to full recovery is long, sometimes sprinkled with surprises, but the journey is well worth any discomfort. My suggestion is to be kind to yourself, walk often, breath deeply, eat and sleep well. It is good to write as you have done so...

    Staying the Course -- 08/05/2019

Hi Superbob and others. I'm still around keeping busy, enjoying life, playing pickleball, spending time with family, doing summer chores, joined a local writing group, doing some writing, and trying to eat and stay healthy. Going in for my 6 mo checkup next week. I think this one includes a...

    Staying the Course -- 07/29/2019

It's too quiet here. Some of us are still processing the weekend events here in the US. My only comment now is that we, in the US, must do something. Talking about it is not the answer. #stoptakingdosomething he writes about it, doing nothing... :( I'm not going to be silent anymore about...

    Adjusting to new life

I support you on this. It is not fair to highjack the post to discuss another agenda. I know it is not intentional and often a result of being caught up in trying to make a point, local news, or humor. But, we should be sensitive to the author of the tread and take our humor and opinions off...

    TMI

Rainbow, I'm sure you know what you are going through is normal. It would be abnormal, for either of you, to not worry. Of course, the people who don't make it aren't writing on this forum, but Again is correct, we are good examples of the great odds that you and your husband will return here...

    Big Day

@dutchboy, I hope you encountered a guy at Shadyside named 'Al' that takes care of patients that are staged in the OR arena. He does great imitations and put my mind at ease before they wheeled me in for surgery. He and the whole team at Shadyside are great people. Wishing you the best of...

    Staying the Course -- 05/20/2019

Nice seeing all the activity. SB, you sound in better spirits but based on my experiences in the waiting room, I know living with risk waiting to get fixed is not without worry. I was 73 when I had my surgery and now, I'm playing Pickel ball, doing my landscaping work and cutting down trees...

    Staying the Course -- 04/29/19

Steve, we live close enough that the weather you get today, we get tomorrow. And I agree it has been difficult this spring to get outside work done. I am envious of your 20 - 30-minute grass-cutting job. I'm working on getting mine down to under six hours. I agree it can be relaxing and a...

Started getting digests out of the blue

Is this in response to my inquiry above? If I unsubscribe and want to subscribe again, how is that done? Why can't you change it for us to control this?

Started getting digests out of the blue

Angie, can this be managed in the user profile section under 'preferences'? I rather "be taught how to fish than be given a fish", if you understand the Lao Tsu Chinese proverb. Is there an online tutorial or guide for this forum software we can get access to?

Hey SB. Thanks for letting us know. My best goes out to you and your DW in dealing this all of this.

Staying the Course...til we meet again....

Martin, I'm sure you have done your research on the PCT and have plenty of information from it. My son attempted to hike the whole trail last year and made it 1,100 miles before being forced off trail due to an injury. (One needs to be able to walk to finish the trail). If you want pointers...

My Mom's Mitral Valve Replacement Was A Failure

Becky, I'm sorry you have such bad news. Hope they get your mom back on track. I'm sure this is hard for you also. It is very hard to see family sick. Wishing you better days.
