Any suggestions for lowering Heart Rate?

For my elevated heart rate, I take Coreg. I am not a doctor; I am only sharing my experience. I know how discomforting this can be. Good luck with your remedy.

    Skiing Post AVR

Hello all, just wanted to let you all know that I went skiing last weekend...without incident. I was so worried before going, as I have not skiied since before my AVR 3 1/2 years ago. This is one of my pleasures in life that I was worried I would not ever again enjoy. But Vail Mountain welcomed...

    Valve repair redo?

Delcar, I am a re-op--a two time vet. My first was a repair and lasted 14 years. When it broke down I inquired about a re-repair and was told nuh-uh. So I settled on a tissue valve. Of course we hope that you don't need another surgery, but it sounds like you're in good medical hands, which is...

    Irregular Heartbeat

Guess I spoke too soon. The skipped beats are back...almost the day after I posted the news that they've disappeared. I think this time I will take Al Capshaw's advice and get an EKG. DAMN! I thought these episodes were behind me. Guess I never can relax.

    Irregular Heartbeat

The EKG is certainly something to consider next time I go to see him for my regular appointment. I'd like to know why this is happening as well, and more importantly if the arrythmias will stop after x amount of time on the drug.

    Scar Tissue Removal

Yeah, it sounds like a hernia, and that's what I'll look at. Thanks for your help.

    Scar Tissue Removal

So I take it that if it's a hernia and it's disruptive enough it needs an operation. On the chance that it's a keloid and it's disruptive, what happens then?

    Scar Tissue Removal

Lyn, thanks for the 411. I wonder what it is now. Do you think I should go to my gp for this or to my cardiologist? I have an appointment with cardio in February.

    Scar Tissue Removal

Hello all, I wanted to run something past you. Since my surgery in ’07 I have had a collection of scar tissue at the bottom of my incision. It’s not quite the size of a golf ball, but it’s certainly noticeable. In fact, I can’t wear shirts that are too tight since it makes a dent in it. When I...

    Irregular Heartbeat

Hello all, I just wanted to give an update to my situation. First, thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts. It looks like it's been around four months since I last posted in this thread. A quick review: I was having skipped beats and much fluttering. My doc put me on Tambocor, first 50mg...

    Irregular Heartbeat

Hook, I'm not as cynical about docs, particularly since I owe my life to a few of them. Al, I sure don't want to be sluggish, that's for sure, but of course I will do whatever is necessary. I will bring up the Lopressor question when I see him next. As for now, it seems to be under control...

    Irregular Heartbeat

I kinda wish I didn't read that. I had no idea Tambacor was controversial. If it's so dangerous why is it being prescribed? Should I ask this of my cardio?

    Irregular Heartbeat

Hello all, since my posting I've spoken to my cardio and he ramped up my Tambacor to 100 mg twice a day from 50. Since then my palpitations have been reduced significantly. It looks like that did the trick. I'm so relieved. Now let's see how long I'll be on it. I hope this little anecdote...

    Irregular Heartbeat

You know, you guys got me thinking and I think I will get an EKG. It makes sense, if for no other reason than for doc to see specifically why I'm having these hiccups. And who knows, maybe he will have a change in the game plan. As you know, these things are terribly disruptive. Thanks, and...

    Irregular Heartbeat

The chocolate comment hurts, Al. I spoke doc's office and he is upping my Tambacor from 100mg a day to 200. Did NOT order an EKG. Let's see if this works. Thanks again for your input. J

    Irregular Heartbeat

Al, actually, no, he did not take an EKG. He just did the normal stethoscope listening and with that prescribed the Tambacor. I'm thinking after I call today he may order one. Clicker, I don't drink coffee, and the caffeine I ingest usually comes in the form of chocolate, so I don't think...

    Irregular Heartbeat

Hello all, I've read with great interest the various posts regarding irregular heartbeats, skipped beats, a-fib, PVCs, etc. and the various descriptions and explanations (thank you, Mr. Capshaw). I'd like to share and ask feedback for my current situation. I've had a fast pulse for many...
