49.5 Year Old with Aortic Regurgitation deciding on a valve and hospital

M Red, I had aortic stenosis and like you did hundreds and hundreds of hours of research. I watched the OHS twice on line. This forum is what helped me get through it all. I chose the On-x valve because it required minimal warfarin. I had my OHS in May of 2013 at the age of 53. Almost 3 years...

I admire so many of the people here that are so faithful after surgery to help those that are going through it...

How Do You Like Your On-X Valve?

Like my 21mm On-x valve. I can hear and feel it a lot of the time. Doesn't bother me a bit. Had it one year on May 23rd. As long as it is ticking I am living. My husband hears it quite often. A lot of the time when he hears it I can't.

Surgery next week, but still confused.

They did an angiogram on me after my echo hadn't changed in a year. They did this because I had noticed a difference in my shortness of breath etc. They noted when they did the angiogram that indeed my valve was .09 cm. It is a more defined test. You might suggest that to your dr. Good luck with...

    On-X survey

I picked my surgeon prior to answering the survey. My surgeon (Dr. Glenn Barnhart) stated he only used On-x valves. That sold me on him after doing all of my research.

    On-X survey

I did the survey a year ago before my surgery. I had to call and email them but finally got my gift card and shirt and ring. Give them a call.

    Costs and other Basics?

I have finally been home testing for a month. 1st week I used one lancet and 1 test strip, 2nd week I had to use 3 (still learning), today I only used 2. Today I went to the clinic and tested 2.6. Came home and tested with my cougacheck XS and my INR was 2.9. Both ok with me. The Dr. at the...
