Coag-Sense versus CoaguChek xs and labs

I would laugh if that wasn’t so close to the truth. With Dr. Google.

    Shots-Flu and Covid-19 booster

You are iron woman now. 98% efficacy. That 3rd shot I felt. Low grade fever and body aches for 24 hours. Covid will probably go away by next summer as vaccinated numbers increase.

    Young Bentall Patient

@Pelicle , I understand the reef in Australia has taken a huge hit with coral bleaching. I hope its recovering.

    Young Bentall Patient

I am glad you found the reply. It was a bad joke :) . I have visited many foreign countries and I actually love left hand turns. It feels more natural to me. I love going to the islands and dive like in Grand Cayman, Montserat during a volcanic eruption, Fiji. Love the diving there going to...

How did you discover your valve issue?

About 6 years ago I was working out too hard and I became near syncopal. Got checked and found the bicuspid valve with area of 1.3 (moderate stenosis) went to .7 over the course till replaced a little over 7 months ago.

Missed a dose. What do you do?

I take celecoxib when I overdo it for a few days to help with pain. Haven’t had any adverse events. It is contraindicated but not an absolute contraindication.

    Sparing the Aortic Root

It’s one of those things when they got you opened up making a decision at that time. I was told my prognosis is excellent according to surgeon and cardiologist. I don’t plan on doing any heavy weight lifting and I’m enjoying my new found joy in jogging for aerobic health. Never been able to...

    Sparing the Aortic Root

Same thing happened to me. My surgeon spared the root. I was at 4.3 cm and he said he would have put a piece of Dacron if it was 4.5 cm. He tightened up the root using suture and the valve is seated perfectly. I have not experienced any downside . My chest pain went away right after surgery.

Coag-Sense versus CoaguChek xs and labs

This last statement I can’t ignore. Covid is so prevalent they think that family Physians don’t see sick Covid patients is ridiculous. I shouldn’t be shocked at the overall perception of the public I guess. They don’t have a clue what I and my colleagues have treated at all levels of the...

Coag-Sense versus CoaguChek xs and labs

I notice that my coag-sense meter receives software updates over my WiFi a few times after I got my machine 7 months ago. Makes me feel better that someone in the background is tweaking the machine. When I first got it , it was all over the map with inconsistent results. Much more predictable...

    Covid 19 vaccine recommendations

I got my 3rd Pfizer shot and I know it perked up my Killer T cells, because of my sustained crappy feeling for 2 days. Moderna vaccination has better numbers as far as sustainability of antibody levels but I’m good with what I got. I feel protected against the “vid” along with n95.

Let's set some goals! A throwdown!

My resting heart rate is 52bpm, I have wakened up some muscles in low back but with self massage and treatment it has improved dramatically and have logged 3, 2.5 mile runs since then. I can’t wait till my theragun massage pistol finds it way to my door.

    Has anyone taken Hyoscyamine?

Medicine that’s been around for a long time (40 years). Unfortunately, the price seems to still be astronomical in the states. Slows peristaltic activity down but doesn’t give you an ileus. It’s useful for use in kids who have functional abdominal pain disorders in children with no alarm...

    Therapy while on warfarin.

I have been doing some running for the first time in my life over the last month. The Aortic valve and ticker are doing just fine but my paravertebral muscles in my right SI area are balled up from running. I run about 2.5 miles and did it about 20 times last month. I tired of the pain in the...

Variable/pounding heart rate following AVR/Aorta graft

Yeah my cardiotron told me to drop my metoprolol to 25mg from 100. I am running 2.3 miles 4 to 5 times a week. My Aortic root was not dilated enough to warrant the Dacron graft, even thigh it was considered aneursmal at 4.5cm. I agree with Brintage on what he says, you have to do the rehab...

Valve Choice with history of Cancer. Anyone deal with this?

All great responses. A question to ask is what type of cancer? Will it involve radiation treatment to your chest area? Might be a concern with a biological valve if treated with radiation. Tough questions.

    Why both Warfarin AND aspirin?

That’s what’s recommended by my valve manufacturer and my physicians agree with it.

    Why both Warfarin AND aspirin?

Well for me; your mileage may vary, the addition of 81mg asa to my 1mg of warfarin is working great. Everyone is an individual lab experiment with their own nuances. So
