    Resting Heart Rate

Eva you have had 2 physicians here tell you to go see an electrophysiologist cardiotron. You need an event monitor put on to document the rhythm in order to figure out where it’s (aberrant pacemaker) coming from in the heart. I suspect it is probably in that enlarged LA. Like vitdoc said you...

    Resting Heart Rate

It’s easy to control the extremely slow rhythms you can just put a pacemaker in. Not so much the fast rhythms without taking meds to try and slow down rhythms especially if one has an aberrant pacemaker and having side effects from meds. My brother had this done and he is in normal sinus...

    Resting Heart Rate

Agree with Pellicle you should go see an electrophysiologist. Get your electrical pathways mapped out and potentially have an ablation of the accessory pathway if this is the issue. Amiodarone as you know is not a great long term Med to take.

    I can't stop crying

Brain damage and neurological outcome after open-heart surgery.. Pretty common issue in my experience, Seems to be related to the amount of time the patient is on pump and if patient has had susceptibility in the past with prior history of anxiety/depression. You don’t to stay there as...

    I can't stop crying

Some statistics have shown anywhere from 20 to 40% of patients undergoing heart surgery can have it. It’s presence can cause an increased risk of poor outcomes. Along with drugs, excercise, getting some cognitive behavioral therapy. Don’t know that the latter works well on older population.

    I can't stop crying

It’s not unusual to have depression symptoms after major cardiac surgery. Might be complication from getting on pump. Should consider talking to your primary care physician and starting an antidepressant. Usually an SSRI agent.

INR of 1.0 with mechanical valve

The key to this story is to take command of your health care and use your physician as a consultant. I was going to suggest to take 5 mg then keep getting repeat daily Inr. Till you get level between 2.5and 3.5INR for the first 3 months then you can drop to 1.5 to 1.8. I keep mine at 2.2 for...

25 year old male in US with BAV/aneurysm

Welcome to forum Josh although your numbers look to be pretty good you are symptomatic with the valve. I would start thinking about surgery sooner rather than later. The aortic aneurysm will probably not get worse once you throw that valve in the trash and replace with a carbon fiber valve...

    Life expectancy with or without

I feel pretty safe when I am “in” the water diving than I would being on the surface. As long as you can see underwater its pretty easy to determine if you are on their menu. Diving with sharks around doesn’t bother me.

    Eliquis instead of Coumadin

Athens that is why I said the US bears the brunt of non-regulated price control. Many people here get meds from Canada and Mexico because price increases can happen and do happen because its written into law that Government insurance plans cannot negotiate the pricing of drugs. I wonder if big...

    Before and after run times

I went out yesterday on a 2.7 mile jog and the last mile was mostly up hill. I was chugging a long breathing pretty hard listening to some music in my AirPods and caught my toe on lip of sidewalk (wasn’t paying attention) did an extension of both arms , turned head, arched back and grazed knees...

Regular checkups after heart valve replacement?

I have an appointment with cardiologist coming up at 1 year in a week or so. Will probably get an echo and go over it with him at the visit. Have to make sure the root looks good. I saw on ct scan that I have an extra set of wire tie off in picture which is probably how he tied off my left...

    Eliquis instead of Coumadin

I have an Onyx valve and I have no intention to go on Eliquis (apixaban). Elmiguel hit the nail on the head compliance is much better with a drug once a day than twice a day. My INR is 2.1 and that is plenty high enough for the valve. Checking an INR is no big deal to me. I have a machine at...

How did you discover your valve issue?

I was 58 years old and I nearly passed out excercising. I had a vision of being in dark hallway with bright light at the end of tunnel and then all of a sudden I was back. My wife called an ambulance which came over to my house and encouraged me to go to hospital. I had recovered and I...

New here - BAV replacement scheduled for 2/9/22

Good luck to everyone. I just hit my 10 month mark. Winter has jacked up my running, and work gets in the way many days along with rampant Covid-19. Which I myself caught after having been vaxxed 3 times. I ran 2 3/4 mile Saturday and Sunday and felt great. Love the relationship with my...

    countdown to cleveland

I personally think they should put the metoprolol in the water system. It has primary indications for prevention of heart attack and stroke, cheaper than dirt. It puts a governor on your ticker so it encourages the chronotropic (timing) and ionotrophic (horsepower) effects of the heart. YMMV.

ELIQUIS trial for On-X valve patients

I don’t understand how there is any advantage since a patient has to take apixaban twice a day versus warfarin qday. Compliance of meds will naturally go down. If you go to 3 times a day ,compliance isn’t going to happen in the long haul with consistency. YMMV. Only Med that is taken...
