    Anyone NEED a meter?

When I had my AVR I was “gifted” a coaguchek xs meter by the NZ importer for St Jude, and I have never looked back with self testing and self management 100%. Had I not received this meter (and the generous help of this forum) Im not sure where I would be with self management. I have just...

INR dose - hard to trust a GP

Do you have a coaguchek meter or intend to buy one? Are you planning on self management? Looks pretty clear your dose needs to go up a bit.

    Up and down INR!?

Hi I think with your INR at 4.0 a 50% one off dose reduction is a safe bet and it will get you down to in range a bit quicker. Im lucky im on 9.5mg a day (a bit easier to adjust whole pills 😊) so with an INR over 4.0 I would probably do a 5mg one day 7mg the next and then back to normal dose...

    cuts on warfarin

I got the flu *** yesterday (had it every year for years) and the nurse at first refused because I said I was on warfarin when asked.... Then I said my INR was 2.3 last week.. “oh ok youv got a well managed INR”, then I got the stab. Do they honestly think a needle prick will result in...

Petechiae (red dots on skin) & warfarin

Yep I have petachie on the tops of both my feet, been there a few years. Doctor said its from warfarin and from what Ive read its just iron deposits from micro bleeds under the skin. So “normal” for some and nothing to worry about.

    Routine tooth cleaning - Precautions

I never been asked to skip a dose of warfarin to have my teeth cleaned or any dental procedure, seems very over the top for not much gain in skipping one dose. I dont think you will bleed to death from your gums... I take 2000mg of an antibiotic 1 hour prior to my dental appointment.

    Coaguchek XS error code #4..?

I think I might have had error 4 once and I removed the small clip in panel at the front where you slide the strips in and I cleaned it with a cotton bud,, I think it was @pellicle that helped me with that one, for what its worth it does sound like a meter issue especially if you have the same...

On- X valve is superior to outdated one like st jude and ATS

Marketing aside they are all cut from the same stone so to speak- https://www.onxlti.com/message-to-patients/x-heart-valve-story/ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Jude_Medical When Onx were having their “carbon breakthrough” in the early 90s my fathers St Jude had already been ticking for...
