What is a good watch/ wearable to measure heart rate and heart rate variability?

Same here. I had the Galaxy 2 which developed issues with heart rate monitoring, so upgraded to Galaxy 3 over a year ago. Better battery life and many health monitoring features. I also pair with Galaxy smartphone. Besides constant heart rate, can also measure oxygen level, and ECG. The...

Targets ... where do you shoot (and why)?

I think with experience as people react differently to varying doses of Warfarin. I factor in my diet over the previous week to see if that may have had any significant impact. When I recently traveled, I took some Airborne vitamin mineral supplements and they helped reduce my INR. I'm on a...

Targets ... where do you shoot (and why)?

Also 2.5 although OnX says I can go lower, after reviewing data (much of which you've provided thanks!) I feel it's the safer bet. I make very minor adjustments after testing weekly. I monitor the trend as well. For example, today I was at 2.2 and last week at 2.3, so I made a minor upward...

Need a Aortic Valve Replacement before year ends

Hello. I went back and checked the totals and edited my original note. Total came to $180k.

Need a Aortic Valve Replacement before year ends

One of the positive things about Cleveland Clinic is that everyone is an employee and you get one bill. You can get a very accurate estimate after they determine what you need. I went back and checked the actual bills for pre-surgery testing and surgery. The total for aortic valve replacement...

    New here

They pre-install sutures around the tubes when inserted. When the tubes are removed, they pull that suture real tight to close the hole. That is the part that hurts. You are wide awake and I was told to press the pain button a couple times prior to tube removal. It is quick though. I had 4...

    Pre Surgery and Work

Agreed, but if he goes bio then the ticking will be the theoretical clock to redo time. I'd guess he'd worry about that more and think "what if it fails today" thought process, every day. Easier to put ear plugs in. Ha.

I agree. My money is on that he never makes a final decision.

    Pre Surgery and Work

Funny as I thought the same exact two things earlier today. At work, I often heard the phrase and witnessed analysis paralysis quite often. And my father used to always say sh*t or get off the pot! Too much data can be daunting. Another great phrase: "eat the elephant one bite at a time". I...

    Pre Surgery and Work

It appears that it's "slow" because you've been stuck in consideration/decision mode for several years. You have evaluated all options and potential locations. You need to execute the decision. Cost we have discussed. Your total out of pocket in Thailand is equivalent to deductibles in the US...

    Hello from the UK

Yes, I can directly answer your question. I've had it done. TEE here. It's a medical procedure accompanied by an anesthesiologist and you are sedated during the procedure. The uncomfortable part is at the end when they remove the device and you feel gagged. Much worse than an echo but much...

    Pre Surgery and Work

For what it's worth, I returned full time to remote consulting project 3 days after returning home. Prior to surgery, I told the client I might be out for 2 weeks for a medical procedure. I suggest (as many times prior) to just get it done first. Then work on step 2.

    Not doing surgery

What happened to your follow-up appt and TEE consultation? You seemed like you were progressing forward, then you fall back into a loop of thought with no progress toward addressing the issue. How does one get fired from a volunteer job?? You're in beautiful Bangkok with a healthy portfolio...

    Delayed.

Great idea. Mine were always first thing, like prep starting at 6am. Good luck!

    Delayed.

What facility was this? I'd say that it's very rare to happen once, but twice?!?! I'd be demanding answers. Is it a very small facility? Was it the surgeon or OR capacity and possibly staffing shortage? When I think about the prep you had to do prior to surgery and stress & anxiety. Not good...

    Aortic valve

I agree. Diet is up to you. Can eat or drink anything and easily adjust Warfarin dosage accordingly. Zero side effects. Home testing takes a couple minutes once weekly. I adjust my dosage as necessary and advise PCP. Very easy.

    Remote INR taking over Coaguchek

It may be less expensive and easier to just buy the tester and strips yourself. Call in the results to your PCP weekly.

Understandable. Try to get Dr. Lars Svensson. Great surgeon. Much experience.

Need a Aortic Valve Replacement before year ends

Welcome. You came to the right place for good information. I'll be brief. I recommend the Cleveland Clinic and mechanical valve. Allow the surgeon to choose which specific brand based upon your anatomy.
