ELIQUIS trial for On-X valve patients

ELIQUIS trial for On-X valve patients

Not sure what is different about this study vs previous study. They told me for my age I would have to take 5mg of Eliquis 2x daily. That si a bigger hassle than warfarin and checking INR every 7-14 days.

ELIQUIS trial for On-X valve patients

Nope, they told me if I was selected for Eliquis I just take the pills and have to talk to them every month and get periodic blood work.

ELIQUIS trial for On-X valve patients

It is not a blind study since they need to monitor INR if you are on the warfarin side of the study.

ELIQUIS trial for On-X valve patients

So Cleveland Clinic called me today to ask if I was interested in joining the trial for Eliquis vs. Warfarin. I spent time talking to them about the trial and such and told them my concerns. I mentioned I was less than impressed with the On-X sampling to get 1.5-2.0 INR approved so was curious...

    countdown to cleveland

Interesting by 3 months I would not expect much if any sternum clicking, the sternum is mostly 100% at that point. Maybe some joints still settling back after be fileted like a fish and spread butterflied on the table for hours. I had a few times I heard cracks at rare times.

    countdown to cleveland

Congrats on your recovery. Your timing is similar to mine. First 5 weeks I was sleeping on a angle/wedge pillow at about 30 degree incline. I don't feel a clinking, but if I lay on my left side a certain way I hear it and I am 2.5 years now. As for INR, it took several months for my INR to...

Gotta Do the PRE- Colonoscopy Diet...how do you get any Vitamin K anyways?

He is a great practitioner, I think the 2 polyps he removed were difficult and instead of clips he should have just cauterized the area, but I am sure there was a reason he did not. I actually blame the GI before him as she was lazy and I bet these polyps were there a few years early when she...

What home testing service do you use?

My PCP let’s me self manage and I bought my own machine and supplies. My cardiologist wanted me to use a service that would have been $120 a month. I run any changes by my PCP, but she knows how I am about my health and I have been seeing her for like 14 years.

Gotta Do the PRE- Colonoscopy Diet...how do you get any Vitamin K anyways?

Correct this is all based on you being able to home test.

Gotta Do the PRE- Colonoscopy Diet...how do you get any Vitamin K anyways?

I stopped about 5 days before colonoscopy then you check INR and bridge with Lovonox shots 2x a day once INR drops below 2. You do not take a shot the morning of. If they did not remove polyps then resume warfarin that day and I do at least 50% more for 2-3 days as it take s me 9 days to get...

    Mechanical Valve

I am not overly active, but I do thins that I get the occasional cut. I even nic myself shaving as I bailed on the "don't razor shave on warfarin) and never had an issue or concern. I have an On-X and aim for 2-3 INR with sweet sot 2.5-3. I have gotten my INR fairly stable that I keep getting...

any one with this scar !!!

I requested all my records, tests, etc. and it was like over 180 pages and was very inexpensive. I just wish they could send it electronically as they sent a mound of paper.

    Covid 19 vaccine recommendations

New studies coming out now basically say mix and match for boosters is not an issue. If I recall they actually will likely recommend that JnJ vax people get the Pfizer booster or something other than JnJ to build a better immunity.

    Home testing

    I agree, another money grab.

    Home testing

Not new, used. and sure they likely work and are fine, but I wanted a new machine.

    Home testing

That is what I meant. No one will sell a new machine without a script. Cardiologists around here will not write a script they want you to use a service. I eventually got a new machine and do not use a service, I self monitor and my primary care DR writes my Warfarin scripts. I save money this...

    Home testing

In the US it is hard to get a NEW machine without a doctors script. If you have a good relationship with your DR or Cardio they might write for you a script for a new machine, otherwise Ebay is only way. There are other services out there as well, but they all have a cost. I personally like...

Mechanical vs Tissue - need help deciding

The issue with gallbladder or appendix is they usually go through muscle even laparoscopic so standing, sitting or twisting, getting in or out of bed I had pain. Granted is was for like 4-5 days, but it was still there. OHS as long as you don't put pressure on the chest I found it easier.
