I had AVR (Magna Ease bovine tissue) last November. For three months post op, I was on Warfarin, 2.5mg Bisoprolol, 75mg Aspirin and 40mg Atorvastatin daily. 10 months on and now taking 75mg Aspirin and 10mg Atorvastatin.

You are welcome 😊. One other comment that I have is that the warfarin wasn't as big a deal as I'd feared it would be beforehand. I was on warfarin for 3 months post op and getting it dialled in was a PITA in the first couple of weeks after release but it was straightforward enough after that.

In fairness, that's fine from your point of view. You chose mechanical and I"m sure you made the choice knowing all of the pros and cons based on your lifestyle etc. I chose tissue at 52 and I'd make the same choice again, knowing as I did, that I'd require further intervention down the line...

Yeah, I met my surgeon after 6 weeks, last December. He advised me strongly not to cycle for 12 weeks. He mentioned the vibrations coming through the handlebars. I took his advice anyway, even though I was going stir crazy walking. Hopped back on the bike after 3 months.

What age were you when you received it? Do you have any indication of how it's behaving at this point? Great to see such longevity from a tissue valve (as a recent recipient of one myself).

Thats good. It'll probably continue to rise after you get discharged so be sure to get an INR test within a day or two of discharge and another a few days later just to see what the trend is. The trend is important at this early stage.

I'm about 7 months post AVR and I haven't had any pains for months really. I can lift stuff and do pretty much anything without any chest pain. No pain from coughing or getting up from couch. If I have a huge, huge sneeze I can sometimes get a small bit of discomfort but thats about it.

Be careful when you get discharged about your warfarin dose/INR. My INR hovered around 1.1 or 1.2 for a few days while waiting to be discharged and they crept up the dose. When I finally came within range I was discharged. I got my INR tested 2 days after discharge and was in the middle of the...
