    A-fib/flutter

Another complication to throw in is ectopic rhythms. Now that you can hear your heart you may sense that the drummer in your chest may play a snare hit before the base drum. Dee dum dee dum dee dum diddle Dum. Mostly stress related, over caffeinated but generally harmless.

ELIQUIS trial for On-X valve patients

And you think warfarin would be a hassle? Infact you would probably test once a month and may be even longer stretches because you are not at that high a risk as you would be if you had a mechanical valve. You should definitely ask for for the rat poison.

What happens after two missed doses of Warfarin? Not much.

I do think there is a log linear curve with withholding warfarin. From 3.0 it's easy to get to 1.6 but it takes longer to drop from 1.6 to 1.0. This has to do with half lives of things...it is significant to get from 100 to 50 but it's not meaningful to drop from 4 to 2 even though the...

    Is it rude?

More importantly if the surgeon says this would be my second surgery what would you do? Typically doctors have an incestuous relationship. Your Cardio knows an interventional cardiologist or a cardiothoracic surgeon and they usually refer patients to each other. So if your cardio is decent, he...

Companies for testing supplies and INR reporting

LMAO...I have mood lighting to keep my INR in range. I think they bill everytime 2 months and it's for the supplies (strips and lancets), Meter rental and the overhead for reminding me, collecting and transmitting to my doctor. It is still cheaper to get your own Meter. My insurance just...

Mechanical Valve replacement done at young age

Damn ever other day I find I have something in common with @pellicle . What do you know about jazz??

ELIQUIS trial for On-X valve patients

Think of the end results. You will be anti- coagulated without the additional tests. So you are cutting out the once a week or biweekly INR tests. Now Warfarin is basically free, other drugs are not so is it really a saving? Look up the cost for a 30 day Eliquis supply. No wonder someone is...

    A-fib/flutter

All in all, heart rhythm problems are usually there before surgery but we do not notice them. You feel a flutter, a feeling like an elevator drop if you even notice. With a mechanical valve, you hear your heart and are more acutely aware of your arrhythmia. In the Immediate post surgery...

Mechanical vs Tissue - need help deciding

Don't ask us in here. Talk to your doctor, get a second opinion and then come in here and tell us you had a successful surgery, you are recovering and we encourage each other. Anything else is trolling people. Should I have human, pig, cow or horse biological valve. My wife thinks I am an ***...

What home testing service do you use?

I have Acelis. https://www.ptinr.com/en/home.html You call in and report your INR into an automated system. System prompts if you want supplies and they connect you to a live body that puts in an order for you. They report to my cardio and a nurse calls me to stay the same and test again in...

Gotta Do the PRE- Colonoscopy Diet...how do you get any Vitamin K anyways?

You need to be able to check your INR otherwise you are flying blind.

    Shots-Flu and Covid-19 booster

I had Pfizer both shots but for the booster, I went for Moderna and that shot worked me up - fever, lethargy, nausea but for about 24 hours and it was all over.

    Not valve at all

I have found doctors explain more to you if you show them you know more. The heart is muscle chambers, valves, blood pipes and electric signals...one issue affects the others eventually so knowing a problem is not necessarily knowing the cause of the problem. Doctors can treat a problem without...

    Dosing after colonoscopy

I had Hemo clips and I noticed blood while on Lovenox and I stopped bridging and let my INR gradually rise. All in all, test and monitor for adverse symptoms

    Dosing after colonoscopy

You will be okay. Stop the Lovenox when you are in a range that is comfortable to you. If you are worried and have anxieties, you are churning more blood. Test, get your results, are you okay with the range? I would stop bridging around 2.0 not below.
