    Coumadin clinic

I am definitely NOT comfortable splitting pills. I’m also NOT comfortable taking 7.5mg 6 days and 5mg on 1 day and expecting it all to come out. From everything I know, wouldn’t my inr be different depending on what day I tested?

    Coumadin clinic

I find your comment almost amusing because I have on occasion self dosed and just lied to the Coumadin clinic about my inr and my dose. But you promised not to snitch. Currently I only have 5 mg pills and no script for 1mg pills. So she is in control right now. If I don’t hear back before my...

    Coumadin clinic

I still haven’t heard back from my cardiologist or Coumadin clinic. I do self test and am quite capable of self dosing. However I’m fairly sure my cardiologist would not go along with that. Medicare and my insurance pay for the testing and I know they wouldn’t go along with self dosing. I see my...

    Coumadin clinic

That’s what I was thinking when my cardiologist suggested changing my range from 2.5-3.5 to 2-3. We decided to keep it at the higher range.

    Coumadin clinic

My range was set at 2.5-3.5 when I was discharged after surgery as I was n afib. I converted in a few days but they kept my range. They have talked recently about changing it to 2.0-3.0. I can’t get a reason from the Coumadin clinic but I definitely intend push the issue. I’m still waiting on a...

    Coumadin clinic

I have left a message for my cardiologist. I would love to change Coumadin clinics but this one is associated with my cardiologist. I love my cardiologist. He is the best in the area. He came through once before for me on this issue. Hopefully he will again. I’ve never heard of any other...

    Coumadin clinic

I had surgery May 2010 to replace my ascending aorta, aortic valve and aortic root with a St Jude grafted valve. My inr range has always been 2.5-3.5. My Coumadin clinic insists that I only be given 5mg warfarin. I’m supposed to split pills and then take different does on different days to get...

    Bentall’s pricedure

I had the bentall procedure done 11 years ago. I had a aneurysm of my ascending aorta. My aortic root, aortic valve and ascending aorta were replaced with a St Jude grafted valve. Everything is still working great (even after 2 rounds of endocarditis).

Voltaren, Arnicare, Aspercreme, Salon Pass and back pain on blood thinners

I am currently using Aspercreme. Before starting i checked online for possible interactions with warfarin and found none. My pcp said it was ok and I have not noticed and change in my inr since using it. But Voltarin can cause a change in inr.

coaguchek INR, roche xs pt/inr meter + 5 test strips / case / lancets???

I have used a Coaguchek xs for 10 years. I bought my first one on eBay and got the test strips on eBay as well—no problems. When I turned 65 Medicare began paying for a new meter and the strips. My Medicare supplement picks up the copay. I test weekly. I have never felt safe just testing once a...

    cuts on warfarin

I have had endocarditis twice—summer of 2019 and summer of 2021. My ID was positive that it came from my mouth as it was strep both times—but 2 different strains of strep. But I now use a water pic—no flossing. I also use mouthwash before brushing. I am on long term antibiotics—-Keflex.

How did your heart surgery compare to other major operations?

I had my ascending aorta, aortic valve and aortic root replaced in 2010. It was a piece of cake compared to my lung surgery in 2013. I had the upper lobe of my right lung removed due to a malignant tumor. They removed it through a 6 inch incision between my ribs in my back. That was extremely...

Petechiae (red dots on skin) & warfarin

I am on warfarin. I’ve noticed that I have the same spots when I spend a lot of time in the sun. I wasn’t sure what it was. Good to know it’s nothing to worry about.
