    Medtronic Freestyle Root Bioprosthesis

Ahh, I see I have spoken to you before https://www.valvereplacement.org/threads/bentall-freestyle.889397/post-929788 so since you're clearly not someone I need to discuss anything with, I'll just drop you onto my ignore list for my own benefit. I suggest you do the same Best Wishes

    Medtronic Freestyle Root Bioprosthesis

clearly you have only read a small portion (or remembered that) ... I often write that for many people the choice of a bioprosthesis is likely the best choice. Here you go ... clearly ... I'm sorry you are offended by facts.

    Medtronic Freestyle Root Bioprosthesis

Good moring from Australia testimony is worth whatever survivor bias suggests it is worth. despite the various manufacturers peddeling myth and hope there has been no significant change in bioprosthetic valve durability since the 1980's https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10449611/...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

Morning oh, I couldn't agree more. I often say that this small bit of membrane (the valve) is the tip of an large and ongoing cascade of triggered health problems. Much time and effort is going into the research of why we shouldn't act late on surgery ... so while the "best middle ground" is...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

@Lisa from LJ right ... so entirely different thing to what I need glasses for (presbyopia and maybe a touch of astigmatism or maybe coma) https://www.optometrists.org/vision-therapy/neuro-optometry/what-are-prism-lenses/ They do not contain any focusing power, and therefore cannot correct...

Is numbness of the feet a sign things are getting worse?

not in the same league but my lovely wife did this while passing time in ICU before I woke ... probably fresh off the slab

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

Interesting I'm glad you got it sorted I use single focal length / diopter glasses for specific tasks, +1.5 for TV +3 for reading. I've tried the various "multi diopter" lenses (at least that's what I think you're meaning because a prism in Australia is not used for that)...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

given that the eye could be seen pointing away from where it should be I have no doubt that my brain was having trouble combining that. Either way the aspirin seems to coincide with no repeats of the issue (tested multiple times) and so for that I continue the aspirin

Ebay drops all listing for Roche Coaguchek XS PT Strips

well, its good to have a seller on the forum, if not least because our American members often think that they can't buy stuff and must be subordinated to a health care "insurance" scheme. Myself I'm Australian, but even when I lived in Finland I was using an EU provider to buy my strips...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

oh and just to continue about harrietW, she had this: which should have totally discounted her from ACT (and thus a Mechanical). Gosh I remember well how many times she was treated for GI bleeds and that she sought a change back to a bioprosthesis (IIRC actually got it). Sure bio has lower...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

yes, indeed it was. I have no idea why she was talked into ignoring that risk by a surgeon, but I recall the discussions well. I had a lot of sympathy and empathy for Harriet. Her surgeon's (quite rare) predisposition for a mechanical while ignoring her diagnosed and clear (IIRC) actual...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

if you mean Harriet she also had a lot of co-morbidities and her OHS was not her first rodeo. I'm just mentioning this because we have some other members here with two mechanical valves (aortic and mitral) who are doing quite ok HarrietW July 9, 2019 Open Heart double valve replacement aortic...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

small short duration "vision" related disturbances which at first felt like dizziness but I identified early on that this 'sensation' ceased when I closed my eyes. I later identified it was related to muscle control of one of my eyes. This ceased when I commenced taking aspirin. This began about...

also you totally do not want to have this complaint https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK549777/#:~:text=Angiodysplasia%20is%20an%20abnormal%2C%20tortuous,to%20diagnose%20in%20pathologic%20specimens

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

Just felt that I should add that it is important to be sure that you aren't "a bleeder" before you make the choice. If you are prone to bleeds (and I don't mean cuts) then you should weigh that factor as highly significant. Very few are bleeders, but if you are it can go very bad for you.

Question for US members about legal support for getting home if disabling stroke occurs after TAVar or SAVR

agreed ... and putting my mother into care was logically the best thing to have done (as I could not hold down a job and care for her anywhere near as well as a rostered shift of tag team professionals. Having said that I would always feel a bit guilty, but know that I couldn't have done it...

    Bloating

this story is repeating around the world. Here in Australia we have fewer and few doctors who are willing to work "regionally" ... oddly the city of Ipswich (which borders the State Capital Brisbane) is classified as "regional" by Department of health. So here (on the other side of the mountain...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

no, in my mind I was addressing the people who worry about every little nick and scratch (of which I got quite a few). Nothing in the above example involved things which would fall on me an give me a concussion or even remotely internal injuries. I've seen far too many "I do gardening" reasons...
