    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

2.9 is not a bad number ... anything between 2.0 and 3.0 is pretty darn good. Even 3.5 isn't at all risky pay attention to the Incident colum and read across the INR's for the green zones (which I've annotated in this graph table and graph from a study Knowledge is power.

    Croatian New member-severe aortic stenosis?

its scary for everyone ... and TAVR is only a revolution for the elderly and frail. There is an old saying: a coward dies a thousand deaths ... you won't die a thousand times, but you will regret the outcome I'm quite confident of that. you don't know the half of it and how much he ruined...

    Croatian New member-severe aortic stenosis?

can I ask why? I mean why pay to have someone cause you short term benefit and long term harm?

    Croatian New member-severe aortic stenosis?

statistically more like 5 ~ 10 years ... then what? You can't take it out, so its either put another in over the top of the old one or surgery to take it out ... more complex surgery. How important is it to go against every medical guideline to kick the can down the road? To be clear I neither...

    Croatian New member-severe aortic stenosis?

another article covering this topic in more breadth and depth https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0735109717387740 Abstract In recent times, there has been a considerable increase in the use of aortic bioprostheses (vs. mechanical prostheses) for treating aortic valve disease...

    Croatian New member-severe aortic stenosis?

my advice at your age is "that would be a very bad decision" because they are simply not durable. When that fails (not if) what do you do then? Have a more complicated surgery? https://www.sts.org/press-releases/almost-50-patients-under-60-years-choose-tavr-over-savr-worse-outcomes From a...

    Croatian New member-severe aortic stenosis?

Good morning and welcome I'm Australian, the English tell me I don't speak English properly ... at the end of the day as long as we understand each other it pretty much doesn't matter :) Noted, as an Australian we don't have one either; however I prefer this international one. good it was...

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

@SatoriFound , this is an excellent suggestion. Not only will that be good at getting answers, writing it down may help you clarify the question in your mind. Hand in there and be patient (the word was chosen for people who are treated by a doctor for those reasons)...

    Hubby back in a-fib. *sigh*

pah ... you're an amateur ... you need to take cues from Newarrior or some of the others On this point: best to just keep calm and not get frantic. I know its tempting to get frantic but (well ...) you can't really do anything about it. If it is then you can't change that and if it isn't...

Longest period known before aortic valve replacement needed

I was diagnosed at about 5, had first OHS about 10. It all just varies. My best advice is just monitor and follow the data for you. Make peace with not knowing and live each day.

    Post Operative Cognitive Dysfunction

not exactly if its not on the shopping list it may not come home I don't write down every single detail about project work (which in database systems can be rather tedious, and I believe my code is self documenting (joke) many more things were written down when I used a Palm Pilot (phones are...

    Post Operative Cognitive Dysfunction

well for sure this is a common problem for all humans as we age, but of course there is a dent placed in that curve by the effects of the surgery. A lot of posts here on that and perhaps more good news than you'd expect. However the ball is 100% in your court on this. It can improve but you do...

Surgery 4 to 6 weeks away!!

life (and reality) is not something we can control much of, its good that we get any say in it. See you in a week or so and just focus on your next job which is recovery, that's something you do have a say in. Do it right, do it steady and take small steps towards the right direction each day...
