Roller Coaster replaces Merry Go Round - Aortic fibrillation

So - I recently started having paroxysmal afib with ventricular tachycardia, yeah. And I had a cardioversion that stopped one episode but it kept recurring a couple times a week. Put on flecainide and metoprolol now off both of those due to feeling awful. Haven’t had any noticeable episodes for...

    Sub-aortic Stenosis in small kids

I am sorry you are having to handle this, Hana, it sounds like a rare condition. I remember how it was scary for us when our baby girl had to have a PDA ligation which is more common. I did however type in Subaortic Stenosis into the Search bar at the upper right corner of the forum and I found...

    Asymptomatic vs. Symptomatic

I'm having a stress echo in August to get some info on this point.

    mechanical-heart-valve-noise-may-cause-sleepless-nights

There's all kinds of crazy 12-hour recordings of sounds on the internet along these lines, as I discovered when my son (who developed tinnitus) was looking for masking sounds. There was one of "CPAP machine" that he liked. One of the commenters, a widower, said it was comforting because it...

New member; Alarmed at decreasing EF %

When I had severe mitral stenosis, I had to stop halfway up one flight of stairs to catch my breath before I could make it to my bedroom. Granted, I was also pregnant with twins so that made the impact of the stenosis more severe. I also couldn't sleep lying down without breathlessness and...

Metoprolol vision changes? Or is this something else? Graying out of vision in one eye only

Honestly, I think the right hand is not talking to the left with my two cardiologists. There are just not that many people with rheumatic mitral stenosis in the US and I feel like I am getting "usually" answers when I am not a "usually."

Feeling a whirlwind of emotions—sadness, confusion, bewilderment, …, etc. after my recent “Bubble echo” test, which uncovered a hole in my heart.

I had a opaque gray that obscured my entire field of vision except for a clear "peephole" in the center, in my left eye only. Then my vision opened horizontally, like a window shade. The whole thing lasted about 2 minutes. I had a couple others where only the top left quadrant was obscured that...

Eva, would you mind sharing what symptoms you had with the TIA in your eye, and the testing done to confirm ? Just got back from the ER with vision symptoms - no recent stroke, but I remain concerned about TIA.

Metoprolol vision changes? Or is this something else? Graying out of vision in one eye only

Thanks all, just got back from the ER to read this. Cardiology sent me to ophthalmology, unsurprisingly they agreed with vitdoc: Classic migraine with scintillating scotoma often without headache - no bigs, doc not super concerned esp since of long standing temporary partial blackouts in one...

Metoprolol vision changes? Or is this something else? Graying out of vision in one eye only

Thanks, helpful to get some beta blocker options that might work. I also may just go for an ablation and treat the afib that way vs the meds. I'm not too worried about the migrainish vision changes but the opaque gray stuff is concerning.

Metoprolol vision changes? Or is this something else? Graying out of vision in one eye only

I do have a call in to cardiology about this stuff, but just curious what any of you have experienced with metoprolol / Lopressor esp vision changes. My new rhythm cardiologist put me on Flecainide (rhythm med) and metoprolol (beta blocker) because I have paroxysmal afib now (episodes of about...

Thanks for reporting back. I'm scheduled for an exercise echo myself as a follow up to my last echo. No idea how that will go. Sounds like you are on a methodical plan.

So . . . do you want to get older? Not sure what your options are if you need a valve replacement and TAVR won't work. I am shocked they even tried it unless you are too frail for OHS. If you don't want to go through OHS, even though you could, then you enjoy the time you have left without...

    I am bereft

Just saw this - sending love to you and all your family, Lisa. That's a terrible shock. I hope you are doing ok.

Yup they did this when I had mitral valvuloplasty. Went right thru the septum between the atria in order to access the mitral valve.

50M, severe regurgitation, confused about symptoms?

You said your EKG was not normal - in what way was it abnormal? Do you have afib or some other rhythm issue now in addition to the valve stuff, and are they treating it?

    4th procedure

“said I was still playing my clarinet and performing many concerts.” At least they know you have that much breath control Gail. 🙂Fingers crossed that they have a solution that keeps you playing for many more concerts and enjoying life.

    4th procedure

I’m just glad they have TMVR now and that it’s an option for you, Gail. Are you able to get that locally, or will you need to go to clinic that has that specialty?
