    New member & “bloody” question

You’re not having coughing right? Def seems to be coming from your mouth? When I was coughing up blood no one took it seriously until I said “it is bright red splots the size of a quarter” (from the then undiagnosed severe mitral stenosis). So the degree of bleeding as well as the color may be...

    Erratic heartbeat after surgery

Lots of details satori wife! Do take care of yourself. My hubs is lucky because I keep telling him to get outta here and let me rest. But it was good he was here to be an advocate for me and tell them and me I was underreporting my pain level and needed stronger medication. He was 100% correct...

    Time for mitral valve replacement

Tomorrow is the big day for mitral valve replacement. Hopefully, they can save my *** once again and I can enjoy another 22 years (or so)

    Cardiac Ablation for Intermittent Arrhythmia

Interesting, never really thought about that. I have paroxysmal afib and they will probably do a Maze procedure tomorrow during my mitral valve replacement. I got the impression that for afib they kind of know where the chaotic impulses are coming from, near the pulmonary artery I believe...

    Back in the waiting room...

    Medtronic Freestyle Root Bioprosthesis

I somewhat hesitate to even try to be helpful to you, Wendell - it’s like trying to stanch the bleeding of a rattlesnake - but if you look for Duffey’s threads you will see one sometime in the past year with everyone congratulating her on her long lived tissue valve - 18 years I think? And some...

    It's done, and I'm home!

Glad to hear you made it through and sending you best wishes for sound sleep and a strong recovery. I’m imagining you back in the saddle (literally) and enjoying life. Also hope your now-adult kids are nearby and able to help care for you or at least cheer you up. I know I’m super glad that mine...

    Back in the waiting room...

What the actual …Elcarim I am so sorry the people in your life treated you like a freaking brood mare. For sure pregnancy is hard on valves and heart in general. My twin pregnancy was how my valve problems were discovered and it was actually life threatening for all three of us. Sounds like...

Anyone else feel better once they came off some medications?

For sure, yes. My blood pressure is naturally on the low side (100/60) so when I go on betablockers it's like 85/58. I had a lot of fatigue and also vision disturbances on metoprolol succinate and with flecainide even worse, so I felt markedly better off them. I am now on an equal dose of...

On- X valve is superior to outdated one like st jude and ATS

So are one or the other of these choice generally noisier? Just curious. I am getting a mechanical next week regardless and don't have any noise concerns.

Is numbness of the feet a sign things are getting worse?

If y'all can lend us a few IV bags, that might be better. Does the saline drain in the opposite direction, though ; ) Hospital presidents in town are getting together this week to divvy up what they have, try to make sure emergencies are covered and move forward from there. I'm supposed to...

Is numbness of the feet a sign things are getting worse?

It was supposed to be next Weds 10/16. Kinda of nervous because they told me 6 weeks ago it should be done within a month. But, I feel ok as long as I don't have afib.

    Medtronic Freestyle Root Bioprosthesis

Pretty long con, since I've been reading ****'s posts for more than 15 years now. Retracting statements like this is always an option. But whatever, dude. You could put "Bentall surgery" or "Medtronic Freestyle Root Bioprosthesis" into the forum search bar to get the user...

Is numbness of the feet a sign things are getting worse?

Hope you don't get bumped for surgery -- I just did. National IV bag supply chain issues from Hurricane Helene. No idea when I will be rescheduled.

    Time for mitral valve replacement

My valve replacement surgery is cancelled indefinitely due to national shortage of IV bags in the US (recent hurricane destroyed a factory that made 60% of the national supply for hospitals): https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-hospitals-iv-fluids-shortage-hurricane-helene/ Just...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

I will say that my daughter’s glasses with the prisms are very expensive. Luckily she has unusually good vision benefits from work.

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

My daughter has pretty intense prisms. Last time she had a vision exam the doc kept asking, which is clearer, this or this? Ok it is clear? Ok great. Until she said “it’s in focus but there are two of them.” 😂 be careful what questions you ask I guess!

Is numbness of the feet a sign things are getting worse?

It’s pretty common for patients to get a marker to actually mark the surgery target to prevent mistakes (right knee vs left knee for example). Or in one case I heard about, to be a wise *** and have his wife write all all over him “if looking here, please flip over … this is not my knee, wtf is...
