    Still Here (Hospital)

Thanks for the comments everyone. I think I get to go home today. I had an elevating t-cell count which they wanted to monitor (it's normalizing now), my last tube was pulled almost a day ago, and I'm feeling pretty good. I also had a small part of my lung that wasn't clear/open 100%, so they...

Are stool softeners normally given after surgery?

I can't believe these aren't standard issue where I am. I went for the 2nd time today, and I'll spare the details, but it was traumatic for me. :-/

That sounds great man, I'd love to get together with the group. I am going to PM you the surgeon/hospital info, I try not to post things like that publicly even though this is a massive endorsement/great advertising. Everyone thinks differently in the privacy dept. Anyone who might find this...

    Tomorrow, Tomorrow...

UPDATE from the other side: the water's nice! Today is my birthday, and I got a pretty unbeatable gift today. Two cardiologists were in disagreement about my valve (for anyone following my story). The HMO one who swore it wasn't bicuspid, and another one here at this hospital who felt 85-95%...

    Tomorrow, Tomorrow...

I love my little On-X (disclaimer: just got it). For some reason I thought it would sound like metal snapping. It sounds more like two plastic forks barely tapping together. The sound of being healthy, as others have said. Did work make you rush back? Stay in touch! I'm treating this time as a...

    Tomorrow, Tomorrow...

Thank you everyone. I am doing well, this hospital is very nice/organized. The doctor found my root to be in much better condition than expected, so he repaired it + On-X. He knew I wanted to safeguard against aneurysm down the line, so he must have been certain it was good. He also repaired a...

    1000 questions and other ramblings

Hi Again Newbud, You and I will be getting surgery to address our BAV soon. It has its inherent risks, but we have no reason to fear the outcome as there is a good chance it will be very good. The aortic regurgitation you have now will go away after valve replacement. So while you might have...

Aortic Valve vs. Aortic Root Replacement Endocarditis Risk

Thanks for the great replies everyone. I want to reply to the individual posts soon (and will), I just haven't had time to yet, hence me vanishing for over a day. :-) I have a 1.5 year old who is a blast -- he does tire me out however, and I'm off to bed for some Z's. :-)

    1000 questions and other ramblings

If you have been diagnosed with BAV, it's not in your head. Even when I am not symptomatic (I have periods, sometimes days with few symptoms), I still get more tired than "the next guy" of similar age/physical activity level/etc. I'll try to leave a better response later, getting ready to head...
