I had a mini with Inspiris Resilia as well as aortic aneurysm repair at age 71. Pretty fit for my age at time of surgery.

I was in ICU for a little over 24 hours with some pain but nothing extraordinary, although I was on some pretty heavy meds. In step down unit for 3 days. Was walking around the hall by 48 hours after surgery. Pain level in step down unit was moderate - say 3-8 on a scale of 10 diminishing somewhat each day. Took oxy and ibuprofen while in step down. Once released to hotel, I used only ibuprofen. Was able to walk about 4 city blocks by day 5 or 6 after surgery.

Flew home 7 days after surgery and gradually eliminated the ibuprofen. Was fortunate to not experience any serious complications. Resumed normal activities on a slow, but steady pace. Felt mostly normal about 4 or 5 months after surgery.

Your experience may differ especially given differences in age and fitness.

I'm not a fit as I once was, but I do okay. I can walk 3-4 flights of stairs without any heavy breathing, but because I don't exercise like I should, my legs will be whimpering. Your experience makes me feel hopeful I'll have a similar outcome. Thank you so much for your response.

If you don't mind, how long have you had your implant?

I just passed the three year anniversary. Annual echo and cardio consult in a few months. So far, so good.

Well it's5:04AM, just took my 2nd antibacteria shower and ready to go in. 6AM check in for an 8AM surgery. I'll see everyone on the other side.

Well, surgery went well, waking up in ICU with 2 tubes in my lungs...not fun...struggled until they pulled them. Next day (Sunday) walked from ICU to the cardiac care floor where things were very hectic, but everyone knew exactly what they were doing...amazing people. God bless caregivers is all I can say. They were pushing me to get my lungs back with various tools to blow and suck on, but very hard to do with 2 chest tubes riding over your lungs...painful. More walks, etc. Worked very hard to get out of there, thought I had it licked, and Tuesday evening, after shower, I couldn't get my heart rate below 137, THAT was uncomfortable. They gave me the news I wasn't going home and a bit of depression slipped in, but I knew they were right. Wednesday all the surgeons and cardiologists met and decided to put me on something to slow the angry heart down, it almost immediately took effect, and became consistent at 68-74 resting. Started walking again and all went well. Left the hospital today at 5PM with a book od dos and don'ts. Tonight, if the first night in my bed since the 25th and so looking forward to it. All in all, it was an adventure, and I'd go this route again.

Keep walking and keep doing those breathing exercises to make sure that your lungs fully open back up.

Thank you for your welcome wishes! It's good to be on this side, that's for sure. Rough day today, but got 4 walks in, 7 breathing, and I'm exhasusted from doing my normal household duties. I'm sure it's a climb back, but since I had no symptoms, it seems like I purposely took a step back...if that makes sense. I'm certain (because of the folk's stories in here) that I'll get over that hurdle. More to come I'm sure.

Please give yourself enough rest! You need time to recover and heal. Perhaps some of the "normal household duties" can be delayed?

it does ... I'm sure the body sends the brain messages and the unconscious picks up more than the conscious understands.

you will, but just take recovery in small steps. Small advances forward in capactiy, but NO slides back from over extending.

Walking is good ... walk as much as you can. Do whatever you do but do it a bit slower.
