I had a congenital VSD but my doctor thought the hole will close as I grow older but it didn't. At the age of 19 I got endocarditis, this and the VSD affected my aortic valve therefore I had to undergo an AVR and VSD closure surgery. It's a mechanical valve therefore I'm on warfarin.
