I was diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation about 5 years ago at the age of 40. I have echo's every 6 months to monitor, and my EFR is decreasing now. I think I will be getting surgery sometime soon, but have been delaying as long as possible as I am a mother of 2 daughters - now 8 and 6 years old
