First I want to say WOW. It's been quite some time since I've been here, I hope everybody coming and going is doing well.
I come here seeking knowledge and hopefully experience from others that may be in this situation (I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong area)
So I used search to find past posts on this topic and they were outdated, so here I am.
Since surgery in 2012 (AVR) physically I've been fine, however my mental state has not been, something I work on every day, and I feel a lot of it has to do with not being able to continue my life that I was living before surgery. One of which was Art, which entails tattoos. The last few months I've been really wanting to get back at it, and have been looking everywhere I could for answers, and I find myself here. Now I'm looking for those that have got them, thought about them, or plan on getting them. I'm in a range of 2.5-3.5 and am usually in range. I look to those who know what it's like to want to get inked up or have. Have any of you gotten a tattoo being on a blood thinner? and how have they turned out? There is so much misleading information out there swinging both ways, and it's going to absolutely break me if I'm not able to. I've talked to the best artist in the cleanest studio here in town, and he has told me it can go both ways, you just never know till you actually start the process. I'm looking to those who have have made the jump good or bad and had one. My doctor who manages my INR said I'm good to go, and I go in to get work done (hopefully) on the 16th. However the artist said he may actually try water and needle first to see how much I bleed and bruise. I'm trying to stay optimistic, but losing faith quickly the more and more I read. Which is why I'm here looking for answers. So I would love if anyone could share their good and bad experiences with me, that is if there is a community here that has dove into this topic.
Thank you.
