First Surgery Coming Up, And Afraid

Hi All, Update: I made it through! I'm going on 6 months now since the procedure (which ended up being a valve sparing root replacement, per doc's judgement), and physical recovery was truly not as bad as I thought it would be. I returned to (low key office) work about two months post op, and...

First Surgery Coming Up, And Afraid

I have, all the heart doctors say go with mechanical, and after reading this forum (as well as testimonies from other mechanical heart valve owners) I'm starting to come around to the prospect. Warfarin doesn't mess with the meds I take for epilepsy, but the stuff I take for epilepsy might...

First Surgery Coming Up, And Afraid

First Surgery Coming Up, And Afraid

I think the big thing I'm struggling with now is trying to keep my head on straight before this thing. I keep reading white papers, and studies on life expectancy/endocarditis/strokes, and cant help but feel discouraged I know there's no such thing as guarantees, but I'm scared I'll never get...

First Surgery Coming Up, And Afraid

Hi All, I'm currently staring down the barrel of a David procedure, with the possibility of receiving a mechanical on-x valve if my valve turns out to be unusable. I'm also a somewhat* otherwise healthy 28 year old who is having trouble coming to terms with what's about to happen to me. My...
