Moving to LA - cardiologist recs?

Leigh Reardon was the best cardiologist I’ve ever had. https://www.uclahealth.org/providers/leigh-reardon Knowledgeable, genuinely kind and friendly, goes above and beyond as far as thinking about what you’ll need to know or do in the future.... they don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

INR range question, 2.0-3.0 vs 2.5-3.5 for mechanical AVR?

I had the same question. My surgeon said 2.0-3.0 (and a daily baby aspirin); half of the other cardiologists I’ve seen since said 2.5-3.5... so in my mind it’s like 2.4-3.0; & when doctors ask what my range is that’s what I say... They either accept it (usually) or demand to know why it’s so...

    Continuing bigeminal PVCs/PACs

Well, I’ve been to the ER (waste of time since the sustained double and triple beats don’t show up above a HR of 55 - and I couldn’t get it to go lower in that environment). Had an echo done today; I’m not great at reading those, but what I did notice is: Ejection fraction Today: 54% (2D...

Valve disease presentation by Dr. Kevin Hodges

I haven’t watched the presentation referenced here, but by chance I happened upon this study (which may be referenced in the presentation) - https://openheart.bmj.com/content/4/1/e000588 This also may help you make up your mind, if you’re waiting to decide on AVR and are severe. As far as...

    Dosing for tooth removal

Sorry, just reread - 40-45 mg a week! Gotcha. Also that was an old post. Sorry. Still seems like a lot to me when people stop Warfarin completely for that long, even with Heparin. I think if I ever had a similar situation I’d try doing it like Chuck C, without bridging with heparin, &...

    Dosing for tooth removal

Boy I wish I had either a cardiologist or even a Coumadin clinic who I could trust with this kinda situation. Most of the ones I’ve met don’t have any idea at all. I hope yours do. My initial thought reading this was ‘stop Warfarin completely for that many days?!’ (horrified gasp) but then...

What is your emergency plan(s) for when warfarin goes wrong?

Always interesting to look at someone else’s dosage/INR data for ‘events’ (missed doses, too high or low INR) - thanks, @pellicle. Though not quite an emergency, I personally, when I’ve had an INR of I think it was 4.1, took 2 or 3 Vitamin K pills, and also ate more vitamin-k containing foods...

Anyone experience occasional palpitations or premature ventricular contractions?

Well it’s too late, I took it and now I feel it might just stop beating altogether. Sigh. The doctor today advised me to recontinue it at 12 mg, 3 times a day! He really wasn’t listening I guess. Off to the ER.

Anyone experience occasional palpitations or premature ventricular contractions?

Anyone know how to read these things? The doctor said the ekg was normal, so should I just ignore that little ‘anteroseptal infarct’ note in the upper right, (!!!) or, ... ?

Anyone experience occasional palpitations or premature ventricular contractions?

I took 6 mg (this was my maintenance dose two years ago) last night - 1 am - no effect. Tonight I’ll take 12.5. I’m hesitant because my HR has already become pretty low... Yes, I have been using this as ‘grist for the (meditation) mill’ but .... it’s a challenge.

Anyone experience occasional palpitations or premature ventricular contractions?

Oh Chuck..., I went in today but since I couldn’t get my HR below 60 no matter how much I tried to relax, and since the palpitations only occur at rest, they didn’t show up on the ecg, and the PCP actually said ‘they’re probably caused by anxiety’ and that ‘things can get ‘sensitized’.’ He...

Anyone experience occasional palpitations or premature ventricular contractions?

@AZATADINE Had you been taking anything else besides the magnesium and coQ10? I wonder if one of my supplements could be causing this? I just had my second night of no sleep for gasping awake every time I’m about to fall asleep, hit by a sustained run of double or now triple beats. I’m scared...

Where are you getting your supplies?

I wonder what you have to do to get qualified as a vendor/retailer of INR machines & strips. I feel like I should’ve long ago thought about getting into this business, lol.

Anyone experience occasional palpitations or premature ventricular contractions?

Wow! That’s interesting! I just started taking mag glycinate tonight, and the pill was so big I really think I caused some palpitations just in seriously worrying I might choke. What apps were you using? You mean that record your heart rate and stuff? I like that you’re so aware of what...

Anyone experience occasional palpitations or premature ventricular contractions?

Have you figured out what all the PVCs/palpitations were? Have they become less? How did the magnesium glycinate work?

Where are you getting your supplies?

Wow, this looks good - how did you find them? And what’s the catch? Do they need a doctor’s order for the strips or something?

    Continuing bigeminal PVCs/PACs

Does anyone know anything about continuous double heartbeats? Last night I had them for over an hour. Today it’s back; it’s been going on for hours; even when I manage, briefly, to get a ‘normal’ rhythm back (by getting up and walking a bit, or drinking water, or taking a slow deep breath) I...

Back on the merry-go-round, or just caffeine?

Hey @Protimenow - I just found your thread here after having double heartbeats for the last hour and trying to quickly research what they are, what they mean, what I can do. I’ve been jumping around, eating magnesium, drinking water and hoping they go away. How have you been?? Gosh, you had a...

The Beat Goes On... Just got some funk to it

Clearly I’m not spending enough time on this forum to not even know you can be defibrillated while conscious. Wow!

    Questions on Selecting a Surgeon

I had a big shot senior surgeon who was too busy and important to talk to me for even a minute or two about how the surgery had gone. After days of insisting, however, on talking to someone who’d been there, finally the resident who opened and closed came to talk to me. He told me I’d had a...
